Production Log Week 7: Vox-pops

Vox-pops

I thought that Sunday would be a good day to film my Vox-pops as this was a day that a lot of teenagers would not be busy. I decided to interview at least 4 teenagers two of them girls and the other two boys. I made sure that I got a shot of the teenagers socialising and playing around. I did this by tracking the camera around the location in which they were in a full circle. When it came to the filming the teenagers they gave me answers that would give good advice toward my target audience. One of them shared her experience of illegal music downloading and told the audience the consequence of what happened when she illegally downloaded music.

My cameraman placed the camera on a dolly and tracked around the presenter so that you could see the whole of the location I was filming in. I did this to let my audience know where I was and to let the presenter explain where he was and why he was there. I initially wanted to film on the other side of the sports hall but the lighting of the camera turned up really light. If it wasnt for this, then I would have been able to film the presenter while having the teenagers socialising behind the presenter.

Production Log week 6: Presenting

Presenting

On Thursday this week, I started filming the beginning of my documentary. I decided to film it outside the Chadwell Heath School entrance as that is where I introduce myself as a presenter, and start to explain what my documentary is about (why is music downloading view so negatively by the music industry). The theme was to act like an agent and as I had to feature some entertainment in my documentary, I covered a range of different places within this location such as, the road in which the school was located to film me hiding behind cars, in the school car park for me to perform a cartwheel and the Chadwell Heath main entrance to indicate I was going to film inside.
On Friday I also filmed in the Chadwell Heath corridor as you would see a lot of teenagers walking down it to get to their classes. It was also long enough in order to get to the next location that I wanted to go to. In this location I went through the different hobbies that teenagers are interested in to make the audience that I am trying to entertain more engaging by something they do in their everyday life. The results that I received from my questionnaire helped me majorly as I could use the hobbies that they do most and put them into a percentage. I then educated my audience by introducing the hobbies and having some actors in the background to imitate what I was saying so that the audience could visualise the information I produced. I then added my secondary research in and informed the audience by letting them know that 95% of people download music illegally.

Production Log Week 5 Interviews

Interviews

Within this week, I have uploaded the interview that I have done with PRS. After watching it through carefully I have noticed that I have filmed the questions that I have asked the interviewee in a different angle from the interviewer. As a result of this the two contributors looked as though they were facing the same way when it came to reviewing it on a computer. This was a problem for me as it made my filming look sloppy and unprofessional. However my teacher told me that I can switch the angle of the shot through final cut pro so that I would look as though I was looking in the right direction.

I had arranged an interview to go to the illegal downloaders house in my documentary for thursday this week in Rainham. As I only had two lessons that day, one of them being music as my first lesson and the other being media during the middle of the day, I felt that this would be an ideal day to film as I was allowed to film during my media lesson. My contributor also finished college at 12:00pm which was when I was granted permisson to leave during school and I also had no more lessons at the time. Unfortunately my contributor had to go out somewhere and left me short notice of the fact that I might not be able to film the interview that day. However I have arranged to meet him on sunday as we are both free and can film on sunday afternoon.
